Y’s Factory BMW M5

16 02 2009

Good, bad or ugly? It’s cool to see a typically ‘Jap’ approach to a European motor, and there’s a lot of cool parts on the Y’s Factory M5 – check out the monster Project Mu brakes, Recaro seats and carbon splitter.

But why’s it gone so wrong at the rear? Riveted heat shields… not bad, carbon spoiler, hmm a little odd… 5in mad-angle exhausts, what the feck? They’d look better suited on a Saxo from 1999. Saying that, 5.0-litre V10 with no silencers would be awesome, and with the interior pretty stripped too it must be a right ol’ laugh to drive.

HKS R35 exhaust system

11 02 2009

Andy @ Sumo Power sent us over some shots of the latest R35 GT-R exhaust courtesy of HKS. Naturally it carries a fairly lengthy name… the ‘Legamax Premium Muffler’, constructed beautifully from titanium and weighing about as much as a cloth.

HKS are offering two types of welding, FLUX and TIG costing at £1695 for the FLUX and £1995 for the TIG welding. If you’re lucky enough to own an R35, you might want to check out http://www.sumopower.com, you lucky bastard.

Lack of updates…

9 02 2009

Apologies for the lack of updates, we’re currently making a few tweaks to the mag so it’s a pretty exciting time. Expect a major blog update later today, until then here’s an evil R34 GT-R from the JDM ego blog:

Bargain USDM Integra

28 01 2009

Why oh why does the pound have to be so weak? 6 months ago this Integra would’ve cost £4800, although saying that it’s still only £6600 which is an absolute bargain for such a mint Integra.

The 96 RS features Type-R bodywork, fully built and boosted B20b block with crower rods, b16 head, Garrett turbo and much more making 336bhp at the wheels, while the exterior features Sprint Hart rims, BMW E46 blue paint, Skunk2 coilovers and Benen strut braces. An absolute bargain.

Offset is best

28 01 2009

Wheels maketh any car, but it’s not just a case of finding the widest wheels you can and going as low as possible, oh no… (granted it helps). It’s all about getting the stance and offset corrent, having too much tyre poking out looks weird, too much stretch – weird again. So what actually defines good offset?

Lotus on acid – ‘Extrema’

28 01 2009

Ebay may be home to some of the worst badly-modded motors but it also holds the occasional gem, including the monster Lotus ‘Extrema’.

Based on the Exige, the Extrema features a 649bhp LS9 V8 lump from the ChevyCorvette and weighs in at just 970kg thanks to its carbon body. It’ll hit 60mph in 2.9 seconds, 100mph in 7 seconds and carry on to 200mph. Not bad for £60,000.

Derm’s Euro Punto

27 01 2009

Derm aka Andy from X2C-UK.com has been busy over the past 5 months transforming his Punto into a Euro show stopper thanks to Xquisite Automotive and D:Class. Over that time Andy’s had the body completely smoothed and the arches rolled to cater for the awesome OZ-racing split rims, cheeky bit of camber all round and a wicked race/euro interior. Expect it finished within the next few weeks – it’s going to look awesome!
